We've sponsored the charity for 28 years because we believe in the life-changing power of reading for pleasure. But reading for pleasure is at an all-time low among children.

We know that having a choice in what to read, and trusted help to find a book, are two key components of children enjoying reading. About World Book Day

World Book Day is a charity whose mission is to promote reading for pleasure, by offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.

1 in 4 pupils receiving Free School Meals said the £1 book they ‘bought’ with their £1/€1.50 book token was the first book of their own.*

World Book Day distributes more than 15 million £1/€1.50 book tokens across the UK and Ireland.

Our sponsorship helps the charity to encourage more children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, to have a life-long habit of reading for pleasure and the improved life chances this brings them.
