Celebrate the National Year of Reading with National Book Tokens
In 2026, the whole nation is invited to go all in – to discover how reading can make the things you already love even richer. Whether you’re into gaming, gardening, music, sport, family time or food, reading helps you dive deeper into the moments and passions that matter most.
Other ways we support reading
Go All In: If You're Into It, Read Into It
The National Year of Reading 2026 is a Department for Education initiative in collaboration with the National Literacy Trust to address the steep decline in reading enjoyment among children, young people and adults. The year-long collective action campaign aims to (re)connect people of all ages with reading as a meaningful, modern and social activity. The campaign identity, Go All In, invites people to dive deeper into the things they already love through reading. And because reading comes in many forms, there’s always a way to go all in, your way.

National Book Tokens – the only gift card accepted in bookshops everywhere – is championing this celebration of reading throughout 2026. Books are gateways into every interest, fandom, curiosity and ambition, and we want everyone to feel the joy of discovering stories and ideas for themselves and for others – making books part of every moment that matters.
A National Book Token isn’t just a gift. It’s an invitation – to explore, to imagine, and to belong to a reading nation.
